“Where Do Democrats Go Next” by Evan Bayh (TIMES, 11/3/10)

Retiring Senator Evan Bayh thinks Democrats “over-interpreted our mandate” and then offered more doubletalk to attempt an explanation.

If Democratsare 76% moderate to conservative, how can they “focus on job creation”? Addressing the needs of working people is presently being viewed in the United States as “a move to the left,” which, according to Bayh, moderates and conservatives oppose.

And, if the main concern of the Democratic Party should be “economic growth,” attention has to be given to job creation and a more liberal view of the economy.

Moving back to the center (more accurately, center right), as Bayh is advocating, will pave the way for a stronger comeback by the epublican Party. Soon a blue dog
