“Wisconsin Power Play” by Paul Krugman (TIMES, 2/21/11)

Kudos to Paul Krugman for exposing the power play of Wisconsin’s Republican Governor Scott Walker, who is trying very hard to bust the public unions in his state.

Krugman then warns that the United States has become over recent decades “more than a bit of an oligarchy, in which a handful of wealthy people dominate.”

Labor unions constitute a bulwark against this “power of big money”; therefore, weakening them anymore strengthens that oligarchy and further undermines U.S. democracy.

A lot of good people have lost sight of this danger.
