“As a States’ Rights Stalwart, Perry Draws Doubts” (TIMES, 8/29/11)

Is Rick Perry really an unwavering partisan upholding the 10th amendment of the constitution or is he a crass opportunist who would trample his own grandmother to get elected?  I suspect the latter.

Ugly politicians like him have always existed in the United States though, lately, their numbers seem to be increasing.  They are for sale to the highest bidder.  Most of them gravitate to the Republican Party because it has much more money than the Democrats have.

Nevertheless, I doubt that Perry will be the GOP candidate for president in 2012.  He is too coarse, too much of an eager beaver.  He could alienate more people than he could attract.  Perry is just a stalking horse, someone who might hold the  attention of Republican voters until the party leaders are ready to reveal their actual candidate.
