“Ghosts Of Iraq Haunting CIA In Tackling Iran” (TIMES, 4/1/12)

I guess it’s good news to hear that CIA intelligence officers are resisting pressure to get the United States into another war in the Middle East.

Fortunately, the country doesn’t have a hawkish shadow president pressing for a bold move in Iran, as was the case when the CIA was assessing the situation in Iraq.  Biden functions strictly as a vice-president, not as a standin for Obama, which is the way it is supposed to be.

Of course, if the Republicans win the election in November (and Cheney isn’t on the ticket), they might tap Uncle Dick to be Secretary of State.  Then, we will have that weekly briefing after a breakfast of hard-boiled eggs and cheesy grits.
