“Deep Support in Washington for CIA’s Drone Missions” (TIMES, 4/26/15)

April 27, 2015

It is no surprise that “Washington” supports the CIA’s drone missions.

Such support allows the CIA to have its cake and eat it too; i.e., it can have a war with minimal American casualties.

Many Americans will accept that position and the USA will continue to wallow in the Rumsfeld’s quagmire!

How long will this go on?

“David Petraeus to Be Sentenced in Leak Investigation” (TIMES, 4/23/15)

April 23, 2015

David Petraeus, once a possible candidate for president, will probably evade jail time for leaking classified information.

Does that mean the supporters of the military-industrial complex are still viewing him as a potential candidate for president?

Given the sorry group of Republicans who have stepped forward so far, voters shouldn’t be surprised if the GOP chooses a “war hero” as its candidate in 2016.

With 18 months to election day, the GOP can probably make him look “clean” again. If not by 2016, then by 2020.

“Has Obamacare Turned Voters Against Sharing the Wealth?” (TIMES, 4/15/15)

April 23, 2015

No, the rightwing media has, aided by a week Democratic Party that has moved further to the right.

This has been the case at least since Bill Clinton was president.

“The Lost Language Of Privacy” by David Brooks (TIMES, 4/14/15)

April 23, 2015

“During a trial, if a crime isn’t captured on the tape, it will be presumed to never have happened,” is a pessimistic view of the American legal system worthy of moderate conservative David Brooks.

Of course, there will be arrests made when the camera is not working. If the police officers making the arrest do their jobs properly, the legal system will continue to function…the “old fashioned way.”

This is another bit of obfuscating by a journalist well-versed in the practice.

“Ted Cruz and the New Politics of Texas” by Mimi Swartz (Times, 3/31/15)

April 7, 2015

Mimi Swartz warns us that Ted Cruz is not really a Texan; rather he is a very ambitious conservative politician.

Is he seeking the presidency now or will he eventually be the GOP’s choice for vice-president in 2016 (as a stepping stone position to the presidency)?

“Trillion Dollar Fraudsters” by Paul Krugman (TIMES, 3/30/15)

April 7, 2015

Okay, I’m angry, very angry, but I’ve been that way for decades!

Our two-party system of government effectively disfranchises a significant proportion of the workingclass.

To rectify this situation, we have to create a new party, one that will represent this workingclass with a second New Deal (and broaden the electorate in the process).

The Democrats are incapable of doing this; especially has that been the case since the Clinton administrations reigned. While seeking a strong center, the Gray Eminence dragged the Democratic Party to the right, a strategy that was good for him (he was re-elected in 1996) but bad for the workingclass.

According to the AARP BULLETIN of March 2015, 21 of the 50 states still have a minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Keeping wages that low is a form of theft.

Question: With feudalism all the rave in the USA, can we expect Chelsea Clinton to be the Democratic presidential candidate in 2024?
